Teaching anesthesia for lung transplantation

Last summer, Mayo Clinic Florida and Foch Hospital in Suresnes, France created a lung transplantation anesthesia and critical care educational conference. This conference aims to highlight a single topic each session in the following format :

  • Every 3rd Thursday of the month at 06:30 Eastern Standard Time (1130 UK, 1230 CET)
  • Microsoft teams link hosted by Foch Hospital
  • 21-minute presentations
  • 5–7 minute case focused on a specific pedagogical topic, presented by a resident/trainee with a faculty mentor
  • Maximum of 3 teaching points
  • 5–7 minute discussion led by another center faculty
  • 5–7 minute Q&A and conclusion

Follow-up email of teaching points and relevant literature to all attendees. The discussions are not meant to be comprehensive, but to highlight key points within these respective topics.

Our goal is to include a wide variety of centers, perspectives, and facilitate free exchange of high-quality perioperative education for trainees and consultants across the global community of lung transplantation anesthesiology. In doing so, we aim to advance our sub-specialty field and improve overall care for our patients.

To date, we have 19 centers in 12 countries !

Our next session is Thursday, February 15th, 2024 at 06:30 Eastern Standard Time. Foch Hospital will be presenting on Regional Analgesia in Lung Transplantation and Duke University will be leading the counter-discussion.
